With Mr Iwawaki and Mr&MrsB`s Fund we donated a cow and a Zumu to poor families who can`t grow enough food for themselves.

子供たちの父親は現金収入の為家の工事の仕事をしている時事故にあい亡くなりました。母親のショックはあまりにも大きすぎた為病気になり、その後亡くなりました。現在は母親のお母さんにあたるお祖母さんが二人の孫

当会のスタッフが今年も現地に行って、2週間かけてチャティン町から遠く離れている村々を訪問し、牛の援助が必要な家族の家まで調査してきました。チャティン政府の福祉事務所が予め大変困っている方々のお名前と村の名前をリストアップしてくれました。チャティン県は凡そ福岡県に近い面積5007平方キロがあります。しかし福岡とは比べものにならないくらい道が悪く、標高も最低2856mあるので、車での移動に大変時間がかかり、また村によっては日帰りができずそこで泊まらなければなりません。村がある山の麓まで車で入れても、その後は数時間かけて登山しなければならないことも少なくありません。政府からリストを頂いてもやはり自分の目で状況を確かめなければならず、一軒ずつ回って家族と話しをしたり、写真を撮ったりなどすると大変時間がかかります。現地での調査に大変時間がかかるため十分な写真を撮れない場合もあった。
今年はチャティン県内で35家族が3才～5才のお乳が出る牛一頭とお乳が出るズム「牛の母とヤクの父との間に生まれた牝をズムと呼びます」一頭をもらいました。ドリ「ヤクの雌」のお乳はとても濃いですが、乳量が牛と比べるととても少なく、またドリとヤクは暑さに弱いので、毎年家族の一人がドリやヤクを春から秋まで山の上に連れて行って、遊牧しなければなりません。なおズムは牛のように暑さに強く、お乳が牛より良くでるので、大変貴重な家畜ですが、値段が牛より高くなります。
Our headquarters staff was traveled for two weeks, visiting the needy families on our list, provided by the Chattring Welfare office. We spoke to every family and inspected their homes before deciding whether or not to give them a milking cow and a zumu to improve their lives. Most of the families didn’t live near Chattring, therefore it took many hours to reach the villages by car on very bad roads, and in some cases it was not possible to reach them by car, therefore the staff had to walk up steep mountain slopes for several hours to reach the villages.
This year our society has donated one milkingcow and one zumu 「Zumu`s mother is a cow,the father a yak」 to 35 extremely poor families in Chattring Prefecture. Next year we will continue this project and reach even more remote villages with families in need of help.

娘と二本の杖でしか歩けないお婆さんの面倒を見ています。現金収入が全くない為この家族にズム一頭と牛一頭をあげました。お祖母さんは二頭を受け取った時に大変喜んでいました。これで孫達に毎日牛乳入りのお茶を飲ませることが出来、そしてヨーグルトとチーズもこれから孫達に時々食べさせられます。余った乳製品はこれから村の人々に売ることもできるので、少し現金収入が入ってくるでしょう。
The children’s father was helping build houses to earn some badly needed cash for the family, but one day some pillars felt on him and he died. His wife was so shocked by her husband’s death that she fell ill and after some time she died and left two orphaned daughters. The grandmother of the girls is looking after her grandchildren as well as her invalid sister and the animals. She was very happy to receive the cow and zumu, because she has no money at all. Besides being able to feed her family with dairy products, she will also be able to sell butter and cheese to villagers, which will provide her with cash.

お祖母さん、お祖父さん、娘とその夫と子供3人。二人の子供は学校に通っていますが、一人は耳が聞こえない為学校に行けません。小学校に通っている少女は学校の運動所でパチンコで遊んでいた子供達の石が目に入ると言う事故にあい、片目を失いました。母親は出産による病気で、血が止まらなくなる時一週間入院しなければなりません。そうするとしばらく良くなりますが、3ヶ月毎に繰り返し入院しなければなりません。入院する時にはご主人は病院で彼女の面倒を看なければなりません。チベットの病院はコストの為看護婦さんの数が少なく入院患者の面倒は家族にかかってきます。少しの現金収入はいつも奥さんの入院代に消えていく為、この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。
This family consists of grandparents, a daughter and her husband, and three children. Two of the children attend school. One of them had an accident at school when some children were playing with stones, one of which hit her in the eye. She lost that eye and now the false eye she had no longer fits her. After the birth of her third child the mother became ill and continues to have to be hospitalized for a period of seven days, every three months, because of a medical condition in which she cannot stop bleeding. Tibetan hospitals have a shortage of nurses, due to cost-reduction initiatives, and family members have to assist in the care of the patients. Her husband must visit and stay with his wife every three months to help in her care. Because of this hospitalization, most of his income is spent. We also gave this family a zumu and a milking cow.

年寄り夫婦の息子さんは知恵遅れので、一人で歩いたり、食べたりができないので、お母さんはずっと彼の面倒を見なければなりません。娘夫婦に3人の子供たちがいます。子供たちのお父さんはてんかんにかかっている為現金収入を求めて家から離れて仕事が探すことも困難で、奥さんと一緒に畑仕事をしています。この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。彼らも余った牛製品を村の人々に売ることができ、少し現金収入になるでしょう。
This family consists of grandparents, a disabled son, a daughter and her husband, and three children. The husband has epilepsy and cannot work because of his illness; he is only able to do a small amount of work in the fields with his wife. We gave this family a zumu and a milking cow to help improve the quality of their lives.

曾祖父は88才、曾祖母は82才、娘と子供、子供たちの父親は数年前亡くなった、孫とその旦那とひ孫3人。ひ孫の父親は交通事故で足一本が不自由になった為畑仕事は彼の奥さんしかできません。二人の子供は学校に通って、一人はまだ小さいです。この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭をあげました。
This family consists of the great-grandfather who is eighty-eight, a great-grandmother of eighty-two, their daughter, and children, a grandchild with her husband, and three great-grandchildren. The children’s father died several years ago. The father of the great-grandchildren had an accident in which one of his legs became paralyzed, so only his wife can work in the fields. Two of their children are attending school, and the third is too young. As this family has no source of income, we also gave them also a zumu and a milking cow to improve the quality of their lives.

父親は68才、母親は亡くなった。そして子供が二人居り一人は学校に通っています。父親は以前現金収入の為チャティン町に出稼ぎに通っていましたが、母親が亡くなってから子供を一人にすることができない為、今は家の畑仕事のみに従事しており現金収入が全くありません。この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。
Another family consists of a father and his two children. One of the children attends school. The mother, unfortunately, is deceased; when she was alive, the father left the home to earn money but he con no longer do that now since it would mean leaving his two children alone. Because he must take care of the children, he can no longer work. We gave them a milking cow and a zumu.

おじいさんは70才、おばあさんは68才、娘と子供たち二人の5人家族。娘の夫は家族を捨てて、出て行きました。一人の子供は学校に通っています。娘は畑仕事をしているが、現金収入が全く無い為、この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。
This family consists of a grandfather of seventy years of age, a grandmother of sixty-eight, their daughter, and two grandchildren. The daughter’s husband left his family. One of the children is attending school and the mother works the family fields, but they have no income and so we offered them a cow and zumu.

父親は55才で母親は出産による病気にかかり、先に生まれた子供たちは皆死亡した。残っているのは最後に生まれた13才の双子、一人は小学校3年生もう一人は6年生です。この家族はあまりにも貧しいので、村の人々はいつも彼らに手伝っている。彼らも現金収入が全く無いので、この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。
The father is fifty-five and the mother, whose firstborn child died, became ill after her last pregnancy, and now has only the twins, who are thirteen years of age. Both are in the third grade. As this family is so poor, the villagers help them, and we were able to provide them with a milking cow and a zumu.

こちらの家は7人家族、おじいさん、おばあさん、耳が聞こえない娘、長女とその夫と子供二人。耳が聞こえない娘は特別な訓練を受けていないので話すことも全くできないが、家の畑仕事をしています。彼らはとても貧しい為、寝台を作る為の木も買えません。しかし地面の上で寝ていたお祖父さんとお祖母さんの腰がとても痛くなった為、親戚の方からベッドをもらったそうです。この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。親戚は牛とズムを山の上に放牧しに行った為、写真は撮れませんでした。
TThis family consists of seven members: two are grandparents, one is their deaf daughter, an elder daughter, her husband, and their two children. This family is so poor that they couldn’t afford to purchase wood to make beds. Some of their relatives gave them two beds so that the grandparents would not suffer in pain from having to sleep on the floor, and we provided them with a milking cow and a zumu.

おじいさん、娘とその夫と子供二人の5人家族。子供の父親は遠く離れたところへ出稼ぎにいっていますが、殆どの現金収入は出産により病気にかかった母親の薬代に消えていきます。彼らはあまりにも貧しいので、村の人々が彼らのために家を建てました。この家族にもズム一頭と牛一頭を渡しました。　この村の決まりで、家畜は春から秋までの間山に連れて行かなければならず、この家族がもらった牛とズムは村の人々によって放牧に連れて行かれました。その為、写真は撮れませんでした。This family consists of five members: a grandfather, his daughter, her husband and their two children. The father of the children works away from the home. The father spent most of the money the family had to purchase medicine for his wife who became ill after the birth of their second child. We also gave this family a milking cow and a zumu .

牛やズムを受け取った家族は今まで村の人々から色々な緊急援助を受け取っていましたがその場しのぎにしかならず、生活レベルアップには繋がりませんでした。今回の援助で生活と栄養レベルは少しずつ良くなるはずです。皆さんが牛とズムを受け取った時大変喜んでくれました。
チャテインの福祉事務所は当会の"飢え苦しんでいる人基金" を称賛しており、非常に喜こばれてます。私たちも受取人家族の嬉しい笑顔を見るとやはり嬉しくなります。
来年また多くの困っている方々に引き続きこのような形で援助していきたいと思います。
The local welfare office was very grateful for our charitable work because it is impossible for them to provide this kind of assistance to all those who need it. We hope to continue offering this kind of assistance in the future.
