緊急に里親が必要な僧侶たち

チベットから来た青年僧達は勉強中で全く収入がない。チベットから来た僧は気候関係の病気(チベットは寒く、南インドは暑い)に罹ることも少なくないが、治療を受ける為にはお金が必要。僧院内の診療所では無料で治療を受けられるが、病気によっては遠く離れた病院へ行かなければならない場合もある。また結核の場合、僧院で出されている食事だけでは栄養が足りないので、自分でもっと栄養のある食べ物を買わなければならない。僧侶の衣装も自分で買わなければならない。チベットから来た僧侶たちは大抵卒業した僧侶のお下がりを着る。しかし洗濯すると着替えるものも無い。里親が無いと仲間に借金するしかないが、勉強が終わるまで返すことも出来ない。彼らは仏教哲学、芸術などを勉強する為に沢山の経典を買わなければならない。色々な試験を受ける時にもお金が必要なので、彼らにも里親が必要だ。

Monks in south India

Tibetan monks have no income during their many years of study. Many of them are not used to the heat , food, and water, of India and get sick. Although there is a dispensary inside the monastery where they get treatment free of charge, they have to go to an outside hospital for tuberculosis (TB) and for other ailments such as eye complaints. TB cases require proper diet and medicine not available at the monastery. Every monk has to buy fabric for his robes, and often he cannot afford new fabric so he wears used robes borrowed from other monks. They also have to buy many religious texts for their studies, and when they don’t have the money, they borrow from another student to buy the texts. When the monks advance in their studies they need additional funds for their exams, therefore sponsors are needed.
